Psychedelic Plants

This is a series that is ongoing. I am fascinated with psychedelic and medicinal plants, their histories and benefits. Psilocybin, which is a naturally occurring prodrug produced in around 200 species of mushrooms.
They are specifically interesting with a huge history of research and studies carried out by scientists, psychologists and philosophers alike.
It has been proven to have many positive psychological effects and are being used in alternative and more recently, mainstream medicine to treat depression, anxiety and addiction.

Read: ‘How to Change Your Mind’ by Michael Pollan – a 2018 book about what the new science of psychedelics teaches us about consciousness, dying, addiction, depression, and transcendence.
It became a No. 1 New York Times best-seller.

“Their suppression is one of the greatest medicinal tragedies of the 20th century. Michael Pollan’s take is especially insightful since he approached this journey from a very naive standpoint.”
